About the event

Attachment Styles Intensive

for LGBTQ+, Polyamorous & Nontraditional Relationships

Why do I shut down, over-explain, people-please, or spiral when I’m trying to talk about my relationship, my identity, or what I need?

If you’re navigating polyamory, coming out, relationship structure differences, or conversations that leave you feeling misunderstood, unsafe, or emotionally flooded—attachment styles can help explain why.

This 1.5-hour virtual workshop is a beginner-friendly, LGBTQ+ and polyamory-affirming introduction to attachment styles and how they show up in your relationships, communication, boundaries, and nervous system. We’ll look at how your attachment patterns can affect not only romantic partners, but also the way you relate to family, friends, coworkers, and the people you come out to.

This isn’t about diagnosing or labeling you. It’s about understanding your patterns so you can communicate with more clarity, advocate for yourself with more confidence, and create relationships that feel safer and more intentional.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • The 4 attachment styles and how they can show up in LGBTQ+ and polyamorous relationships

  • Why coming out, nontraditional relationship structures, and social stigma can activate old survival patterns

  • How knowing your attachment style—and the style of a loved one—can help you communicate more effectively

  • How attachment affects conflict, reassurance, boundaries, fear of rejection, and emotional shutdown

  • Practical ways to slow down, regulate, and respond with more choice in hard conversations

We’ll explore how attachment shows up when:

  • You’re trying to explain polyamory or your identity to family, friends, or coworkers

  • You and a partner need different amounts of reassurance, closeness, or independence

  • Jealousy, withdrawal, people-pleasing, or defensiveness keep hijacking the conversation

  • You know what you want to say, but your body goes offline when it’s time to say it

Format

This virtual workshop includes 1 hour of teaching plus 30 minutes for pauses, questions, breakout reflection, and conversation. Participation is always consent-based. No forced sharing, no pressure to be vulnerable, and no prior knowledge needed.

Come as you are. Leave with language, insight, and practical tools for relating more securely—to your partners, your people, and yourself.
