About the event

Your Hardest Emotions Are Information

for LGBTQ+, Polyamorous & Nontraditional Relationships

Why does jealousy hit so hard? Why can mistrust linger even after a conversation is over? Why does resentment build when I keep trying to be flexible, understanding, or “okay” with something?

For LGBTQ+ and polyamorous people, difficult emotions can be especially complicated. We may be navigating relationship structures that challenge what we were taught, fear of rejection or judgment, coming-out conversations, comparison between partners, changing agreements, family pressure, or the experience of having our needs questioned or misunderstood.

And when those emotions show up, many of us have been taught to regulate them by calming down, getting over them, being less jealous, being more secure, or making the feeling disappear.

This 1-hour virtual workshop offers a different approach:

Your emotions may be carrying information.

Together, we’ll explore what jealousy, grief, resentment, and mistrust may be trying to communicate about fear, loss, unmet needs, broken agreements, boundaries, belonging, trust, and change.

This isn’t about assuming every feeling is automatically true. It’s about slowing down enough to understand the difference between the feeling itself, the story attached to it, the protective reaction it creates, and what may actually need your attention.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to separate a feeling from the story or assumption attached to it

  • What jealousy, grief, resentment, and mistrust may be trying to communicate

  • How LGBTQ+ identity, coming out, stigma, relationship structure, and past rejection can intensify emotional activation

  • How protective responses like shutting down, over-explaining, people-pleasing, blaming, withdrawing, or reacting quickly can take over

  • A simple process for slowing down before deciding what a feeling means

  • How to identify whether you may need reassurance, more information, a direct request, a boundary, repair, grief, or a change in the relationship

We’ll explore questions like:

  • Jealousy: What am I afraid of losing—connection, attention, belonging, security, or my place in the relationship?

  • Mistrust: Is an old wound being activated, or is information, consistency, transparency, or safety actually missing?

  • Grief: What has changed, ended, or become different from what I hoped it would be?

  • Resentment: Where have I been over-giving, people-pleasing, tolerating, agreeing before I was ready, or leaving something important unspoken?

  • Am I having a trigger—or am I responding to a repeating pattern that deserves attention?

  • What do I need before I respond?

Format

This is a 1-hour virtual introductory workshop created specifically for LGBTQ+, polyamorous, CNM, and people in nontraditional relationships.

The session combines teaching, guided reflection, practical tools, and time for questions. Participation is always consent-based. No forced sharing, no pressure to disclose your identity or relationship details, and no prior knowledge is needed.

Come as you are. Leave with a practical way to slow down emotional reactions, understand what your feelings may be trying to communicate, and make your next choice with more clarity instead of simply reacting from the intensity of the moment.

This workshop is an entry point into deeper work around emotional regulation, attachment, boundaries, communication, repair, and intentional relationships.
